“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.” – Ephesians 4:11-13
Teaching is a tough gig. Sometimes, it’s a thankless job with long hours. In fact, there is a huge turnover rate. The ones who typically throw in the towel are the ones who try to do it all on their own. Needless to say, a mentor goes a long way. Believe it or not, at times, the role of Christ follower can be a pretty thankless one. The major difference between it and teacher is that we’ll always have a mentor. In fact, we have a whole slew of mentors including apostles, pastors, teachers, and Christ himself.
